ジャカード生地とは？

ジャカードは、1804年にフランスの繊維職人ジョセフマリージャカードによって発明された機械織機であるジャカード織機で織られた生地です。 この織機で織られた生地は、生地に直接織り込まれた複雑なパターンを持っています。 したがって、織りパターンのある生地はジャカードに似ていますが、技術的にはジャカード織機で織られた生地だけがそのような生地の真の例と見なすことができます。

Primarily valued for its decorative qualities, jacquard is also a relatively durable and heavyweight fabric, and these attributes can be accentuated by weaving jacquard with wool or other durable materials. Uncommonly used in casual wear due to its complexity and relatively high cost, textile manufacturers use jacquard more frequently for formal wear such as evening wear and men's suits. The fabric is also ideal for a variety of household items, including curtains, duvets and furniture upholstery.
